Since his early business establishments in Zambia, Dr. Rajan Mahtani has been able to establish a name for himself as one of the most reputable and recognised businessmen in Zambia. His strict adherence to transparent and ethics as well as honest nature has resulted in several jealous eyes around him. There are individuals and groups that are continuously working towards bringing Dr. Rajan Mahtani down. While Dr. Rajan Mahtani does not give any heed to most of these negative news, there are times when intervention becomes necessary for spreading of bad news that may damage the reputation.
Dr. Rajan Mahtani recently faced similar issue when a negative post was put in a social media channel. Miriam Mwanawasa is the daughter of the late ex-President of Zambia Levy Mwanawasa. It is a known fact that Dr. Rajan Mahtani had maintained a long-standing and transparent relationship with Levy Mwanawasa, ever before the latter became the President of Zambia. As a result, it was extremely controversial of Miriam Mwanawasa to spread negative news related to the reputable businessman. In a Facebook post, Miriam Mwanawasa claimed that Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani wanted to inherit the land owned by the Mwanawasa family at Masaiti district. This was an extraordinary claim and as a result, Dr. Rajan Mahtani released a press statement to clarify the misunderstanding.
In this press release, Dr. Rajan Mahtani clearly stated that though he had a long-standing friendship with Levy Mwanawasa, he never made any intentions or claims for taking over the land. At the same time, Miriam Mwanawasa had no proof or evidence for supporting her claim. As a result, this claim from Miriam Mwanawasa has been considered as ludicrous, malicious and detrimental for Dr. Mahtani’s reputation. Dr. Mahtani also said that he will be taking stringent actions against this misdirected act.
