The year 2021 has been special for Dr. Rajan Mahtani, a noted businessman and philanthropist from Zambia. Despite businesses, personal and professional life being impacted by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, Dr. Rajan Mahtani had something to cheer-up about. It was the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ awards ceremony. The Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony was held during the annual Foreign Investment Limited (FIN) philanthropy and leadership roundtable conference. This conference was held virtually and was broadcasted via the YouTube medium. Members participated from their respective locations and Dr. Mahtani was also invited as an honorary speaker.
In a similar manner, Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani was also conferred with one of the top business and philanthropy awards during the Forbes ‘Best of Africa’ award ceremony. Forbes identified the contributions of Dr. Mahtani towards redefining the banking sector of Zambia and conferred him with the Forbes ‘Outstanding Entrepreneur of the Year’ award 2021. Dr. Rajan Lekhraj Mahtani is the Founder and Group Chairman of one of the top conglomerates across Africa, Mahtani Group. The company was established in the year 1981 and quickly became one of the top conglomerates across entire Africa, spanning across regions like Malawi, Zambia, South Africa as well as other global regions. Furthermore, the company also expanded to several sectors such as insurance, mining, financial services, energy, agriculture as well as real estate. Dr. Rajan Mahtani has further made significant contributions in the field of philanthropy. He is the founder and current chairman of the Prison Fellowship Zambia, a program affiliated to PFI (Prison Fellowship International) Washington DC focussing on welfare and caring of inmates. In a similar manner, Dr. Rajan Mahtani contributed to the Zambian education sector by launching the Stephen Malama award and scholarship in 2013 to the top law graduates in Zambia.
